6 STRESS SIGNS IN DOGS

The term stress is usually associated with humans. It’s the feeling of strain or pressure we feel when we face the unknown, but dogs and animals, in general, can suffer from stress when circumstances allow it.

Here are 6 signs your dog may be stressed:

1. PACING OR SHAKING

Dogs are usually active creatures, so running around and playing may not warrant concern, but when your dog seems agitated and cannot stop pacing around. It could be a sign they are stressed out.

2. WHINING OR BARKING

It can be hard to notice this because barking could be an indicator of many things. But, generally, excessive barking is not normal behavior and should be checked out.

3. HIDING OR ESCAPE BEHAVIOR

Your furry friend may start hiding behind you or try to escape by engaging in diversion activities such as digging or circling.

4. CHANGES IN THE EYES AND EARS

Your pooch may appear startled; his pupils can appear dilated and ears pinned back against the head.

5. CHANGES IN BODY POSTURE

If your dog is healthy they should bear their weight on all four. However, if they suddenly shift their weight to their rear legs or cowers, they may be exhibiting stress.

6. SHEDDING

Your fur baby will shed more in stressful settings. Whether it is at the vet or a new dog park, you probably will not notice unless it’s happening at home.
If your dog exhibits constant stress, you must see your vet to determine the cause and possible treatments. In the meantime, you can try the Mighty Petz Calming treats to help them relax!
